DAMME, pleasant bicycle trip of 30 km middle of the nice nature 12 km of the North Sea.

Reason for this Platheule creek.

To regulate drainage, the entire area was divided into communities or waterways. The residents of a watering jointly contributed to the costs of removing the water from their area. The following waterings were created: the Watering van Moerkerke, large 4700, built in Moerkerke, Damme and Sijsele; the Oude Watering van Lapscheure large 3190, built in Lapscheure; the Watering van den Broek large 1854, built in St-Kruis and Damme; the Maldegemse Polder large 1212 built in Moerkerke; Stampershoek large 665 built in St-Catherine outside Damme.
Where these waterings perched along the Zandstreek, and also where they butted together without dykes present, sideways were constructed to prevent water from another watering or from the Sand area from entering its own watering.

Hallo John,
Links in het veld zien we nog de sporen van overvloedige regenval. Ondertussen is het wel al droger geworden, toch bij ons.
Mooie weerspiegeling van de boomstammen in de smalle waterloop.
De fietser in het rood zal met die kleur makkelijker opvallen bij mistig weer.
Uitstekende scherpte, helderheid en diepte.

Hello John,
As many times before the canal, the road and the lines of trees create good depth, but this time you found good assistance from the electricity wires and of course the cyclist dressed in red. Considering the grey sky and wet fields I could actually imagine this photo conversed to B&W. It would make it look like a scene from an Italian Neo-Realistic film from the late 1940's. But I think you don't like B&W very much, so I will not make a WS.

Hi John,

The length of the road is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the fields pf the trees and of the reflections. The cloudy sky does not hurt the colors output. Have a nice day.

Lepo drvece pored kanala i puta koji nas vodi tamo daleko, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa biciklistom.
Lepo mesto za voznu bicikla.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija.
Dobar tekst o koriscenoj tehnici i elementima snimka, vrlo poucno.

In your image, we are dealing with a game of horizontal and vertical lines. The horizontal lines of the creek, the road of the power cables and the plowed ground, and the vertical lines with the trunks of the trees. The presence of the cyclist gives us good depth. Well seen.

Hi John,
Very attractive composition with the motif of the road. The presence of the creek makes a big difference and it is probably the most picturesque part of the scene especially with the clear reflection. On the left side we have a wintery scene in the field with some frost and fog. The power cables add a nice geometry helping to pronounce the perspective alongside the road,

Of course the powerline, the bike path and the rows of trees mounting guard on each side of stream unite their pictorial lines of force for a strong incentive to discover other magnificent landscapes of West-Vlaanderen in the foggy horizon.

Hello John, a cyclist in red, the perfect focal point.
It looks like a cold day with frost(?) on the bare earth.
I like the reflections on the water. The road and the line of the waterway create a triangle which leads to the vanishing point.
