When we were in Rovinj we climbed up to the church of Saint Euphemia. The walk took us a long way above the city and so we were able to look over the rooftops. Much to our surprise there was a pair of seagulls and their chicks. If the parents had not been there I wouldn't have had a clue what it was. It looks very cute and cuddly compared to its parents.

Hello David,
It is really quite cute, so unlike its parents. What makes this photo interesting is very much the place where you find the chick. The red roof with plants growing out of it makes an unusual, and in this case very eye-catching, environment for a seagull. The light was perfect and so is the sharpness.

You obtained a fine shot of this chick, revealing the colours and the fluffy textures of its youthful plumage. You can imagine how much easier it is for this youngster to become camouflaged, than would be possible for its parents. Youngsters often have much more subdued colours than their confident parents!

Hello David, a good sharp shot of this fluffy baby gull.
Surprising to see the weeds growing on the rooftop, yet they add to the scene.
