Pomnik – olbrzymia głowa pisarza – Franza Kafki, jest częścią nowego centrum handlowego Quadrio, otwartego przy ulicy Spalenej. Znaczące są gabaryty pomnika: 11 metrów wysokości, 39 ton wagi. Jego 22 „poziomy” mogą się poruszać wokół osi pionowej. To już kolejne dzieło Davida Černego w Pradze.

Interesting and original sculpture, well taken between these two buidings with different architectural styles, good brightnessand silver tint, tfs.

Hello Krzysztof,

This is quite an impressive statue which, I am sure, can be viewed successfully from most angles.
I just love how it catches and reflects the light, revealing the texture of its surface.

I just felt that it was having to compete too much with the similarly coloured building in the b/g. With that building seriously cropped, the statue has greater status.
I hope you don't mind, I have done a w/s to explain what I mean.

Witaj Krzysztof!

My wife was tortured at school with the works of Franz Kafka by too convinced a teacher of German. When I visited Prague in 2010, she even forbade me to bring any souvenirs bearing F.K.'s name. Not because he was jewish: the obtrusive repetition of similar themes for more than half a year disturbed her, and I can well imagine her wanting to see Kafka cut into slices...
