Photographer's Note

Autumn is one of the four temperate seasons. Autumn marks the shift from summertime into winter normally in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably sooner. During this period, the birds migrate South. The possibilities of summer are going (but there are still sailing boats in the distance), and the chill of winter is on the horizon. Skies turn gray, and many people turn inward, both physically and mentally. This season has a melancholic overtone.

The photo shows the Flensburg fjord near the village of Broager in South Jutland. The fjord is one of the most beautiful sailing areas in Northern Europe.
