Photographer's Note
Theme of TrekEarth is learning more about the world of beer through photography.
What's there to learn about crown caps except that they tell about habits of one TE member? Well, Finnish alcohol politics has mainly been about trying to prevent Finns drinking themselves to death. And gathering tax money as much as possible. Considering this it's no wonder that there was not much beer culture until late 80's. Local beers were mainly usual lager stuff. And until 1986 there were only two foreign beers for sale in Finland: Tuborg and Carlsberg.
Since then a lot has changed. Most of the caps in the picture are from bottles bought and consumed in Finland during last twenty years, although some of them are souvenirs from other countries. Also many pubs and bars have nowadays a good selection of bottled and draught beers.
There's exactly 476 caps here, but some of the are from cider or cooler bottles. And this happens to be my 400th upload on TE. If you want to tease yourself, try to find a few dublicates that are hiding over there.
Please have a look at the large version.

Yes, interesting perspective on drinking. Rather like Hogarth's Gin Lane and Beer Street. Also there was a Polish political party in the '90s set up to promote sobriety called, 'The Beer Drinkers Party'. Interesting medium for an artwork.

Hi Kari,
interesting composition and considering that I'm a beer fun, it's kind of tasteful. I'm really thirsty of that yellow right now..hehe. Very nice capture. There is no lens distortion, completely straight. Definitely a great shot!

Hi Kari,
What an excellent way to celebrate your 400th post on TE! I'll raise my glass of Felschlössen (yes, I found it at the bottom of the first frame) to that! ;o))
Everything is pefect here: the colours, the sharpness and your perfect framing... not to mention your beautiful crown caps artwork!
Congratulations Kari and looking forward to the next 400 shots!
Cheers!

Hello Kari
Cheers for your 400th post. I like how you can read the word on the small picture and not so easy on the large.
It's a good idea, hope you didn't drink all theses bottles.
Congratulations

Hi Kari.
Congrats for your 400!
It's an artwork in my opinion, perhaps you could share us an info about the artist who made this. Unfortunately I have drank only 2% of all beers presented (not all at once!) so I have some catching up to do.
take care, Aleks

Hello Kari. BEER. Your photo shows a small and multicolored work of art. There one can see, to which the topic beer is suited. Very interesting. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Kari,
I should have known what was coming. You have started a new theme. And I love it. Congratulation on your 400th ... okay as this date 401 which is as wonderful as this. Regards. Latiff.
PS: I'll pick a Bavarian beer or a Guinness anytime! Prost ... or yam seng (as we say it in Malaysia)

Hi Kari,
Strange post: it works better in thumbnail!
The large version is nice to view the details. But there are too many duplicates to be teasing to find them. I did try to find Super Bock, but I guess you haven't it. At first opportunity, taste it; it's maybe the best in Portugal. Sagres is also fine.

hi kari,
congrats on your 400th to begin with!
... one would think beer is a lot more popular in a 'group' of more then 50,000 people :))) ... but am sure they will pop out of the blue in no time - very well presented beer-scape :) and to quote RGatward (from a few lines up): "interesting perspective on drinking"!
thanks,

Well, this is certainly a very original post for your 400th, Kari. You have an even bigger challenge to better this when you get to your 500th now! I suppose this is okay for TE because I have learnt something about Finnish beer drinking culture, so that's teaching us about the world. It's interesting how the word 'beer' is very obviously seen in the thumbnail but not so easily in the larger versions. Cheers . . . David

Hi Kari,
Been a while since I looked over your gallery and this one caught my eye with its bright colours and "Beer" title.Upon visiting my friend shir (shirgold) I heard about the complicated politics of beer in your country and the high taxes....a difficult problem to solve.I have heard though that Tallinn has become a real attraction not only for its beautiful "Old Town" but also for its cheaper alcohol. The note has added so much to the image....good to see you again.
Regards, David
