Photographer's Note

The magnificent cathedral of St Eustache dominates the view from the Les Halles forum, from which this shot was taken on a very bright Sunday afternoon.

The cathedral is one of the grandest in Paris, Gothic on the outside and Renaissance interior. It was completed in after about 100 years labour in 1637. Hector Berlioz, the composer, conducted several of his own works in this church in the middle of the 19th century.
