Couple of seals, a photo from Picardie, North

Photographer's Note

The Bay of Somme is the only place in France where a colony of seals live the whole year along and mate.
There are two kinds grey seals, and "veau marin" (I don't know the english term).
I was lucky with this shot, I am placed in a Kayak moving fast with the strong currents, the seals usually dive very quickly in the water when you approach them, the sun had allready set, so it was starting to get really dark.
I took this couple five times all four other pictures were blurry :)

Peut-ętre le plus grand des tresors de la baie de Somme, la colonie de phoques qui vit et se reproduit lŕ toute l'année durant. C'est d'autant plus heureux que cette colonie avait disparu pendant des dizaines d'années.
J'ai eu enormement de chance sur cette photo precisemment, car je me trouve sur un kayak qui avance rapidement du fait du courant trčs fort (et trčs dangereux) du milieu de la baie. Le soleil est déjŕ couché, normalement les phoques trčs craintif quand ils ne sont pas dans l'eau, plongent longtemps avant d'approcher si prčs.
Et ŕ main levée sur une serie de 5 photos celle-ci est la seule qui est ressortie nette. :)

TFS...and usefull note...but i can't mark it ...probably is to short...

une photo bien sympathique, j'aime vraiment ce genre de composition.
La photo est nette mais ils sont un rien trop centrés.

Certains diront que ton sujet a plus sa place sur TrekNature, mais cela n'enlčve rien ŕ la qualité de ton cliché. J'aime les nuances de gris, le reflet de l'eau, les striures dans la berge et surtout l'air débonnaire de tes deux sujets

Greatly captured and nicely framed shot of this funny seals. Perfectly focused with a very good light control. Very nice one!

Nice work, i like the way you allowed the composition to follow the pull of the geometry of the water over the sand and of the seals' bodies to the bottom right, creating a very dynamic and interesting composition offset by the water in the bottom right moving in opposition and the dead-on stares of the seals. Also, this is certainly a victory for persistence and taking multiple copies of a picture just to be safe!

je découvre cette photo magnifique mais je pense que tu est sacrément culotté d'emporter in D70 + un Nikkor 75-300 (un zoom ŕ pompe je crois ?). C'est tres beau.

Je ne savais pas qu'il avait des phoques en France, en plein nature, une trés bonne nouvelle. Et vous avez fait un excellent travail, la couleur est magnifique, ainsi que le cadrage et la netteté. Bravo.
