Photographer's Note

A vertical format of these imposing rock walls, those of the Cirque de Gavarnie on the border between France and Spain. The impression of verticality and height seems to me reinforced with such a format. The peaks that surround this circus rise to more than 3000 meters for the highest. Impressive and grandiose!

Hello Jean,
This is an excellent photo. The scenery is fantastic and the view is animated by the persons walking along the stream. Two persons wearing red add small dots of colour to the almost black and white view. The vertical shape is perfect for this view, and the good sharpness allows me to watch every little detail even on the distant mountainside. This goes to my favourites.

Hello Jean,

Your description is perfect: impressive and grandiose!

By placing the figures (many dressed in red) so low in the composition, you have emphasised the vast scale of these sheer slopes above them. The contorted layers, covered with snow makes the scene so wonderfully atmospheric.

La paroi rocheuse est en effet d'une hauteur spectaculaire et se reflčte trčs bien dans le format vertical choisi.
Le grandiose de la nature est également souligné par l'inclusion de quelques maisons et des différents promeneurs.

A beautiful mountain and winter landscape, well presented in a vertical composition. The narrow stream leads us nicely into the composition and towards the houses in the middle. The people add some life as well.

Bonjour Jean,
fantastic mountain scenery. I like the river in the foreground. It didn't freeze in spite of the abundant snow indicating cold weather.
It introduces a lovely motif here. The presence of people adds another lovely touch here, they also bring in some color.
The mountains are quite high and very impressive.

A beautiful photo, with this huge rock wall, which we now see covered with snow, the river at the bottom of the small valley is charming and the path where the two couples walk is beautiful, it seems that their feet do not sink in the snow, which is a great ride.

lepa reka i litica, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perpektivom i dobrim tekstom.
Lepa priroda i kuca u podnozju planine.
Lepa fotografija i uhvaceni trenutak sa posetiocima.
Zelim vam lep i uspesan dan, sve najbolje.
Kod mene je zimski dan poceo sa temperaturom od - 3 C stepeni.

The vertical format is the right choice here. It accentuates the steepness and height of the rocks and places the fast-flowing river in the right place in the composition.
The red dots are obviously a wonderful bonus in the scene.

Bonjour Jean, you are so right, your presentation emphasises the height of these mountains beautifully. The snow seems to define the terrain, showing us all the rocky bare faces.
Its almost a monochrome picture, but you were fortunate to have some walkers wearing red , which makes them really stand out.

Yes that wall of mountains is really impressive, and it is easy to understand why it forms a border between two nations. You have a great point of view next to that stream. And hikers on that narrow path are of course nice to see.
