Photographer's Note
A postcard for "Biking Canadian Jean-Pierre" :o) Le Mont Ventoux photographié depuis Montmirail.

About the Mont Ventoux, Roland Barthes, French philosopher and bicycle racing fan, said:
"The Ventoux is dreadful. Bald, it's the spirit of Dry: Its climate (it is much more an essence of climate than a geographic place) makes it a damned terrain, a testing place for heroes, something like a higher hell."

Even if it is a present for Djipi, here my comment:
a very good one, Viviane, perfect composed. It looks as the two highest points were greating each other, having enough from their lonelyness.
Saw the "Tour de France" climbing up there - Barthes has right...

The bell tower in foreground and the mountain peak in background - a well composed picture. A beautiful portrait of "Haut Provence" and Le Mont Ventoux. Nice late Summer colors of dark green and a high blue sky.
After reading your links, I would like to see some panorama shots from the mountain top. "On a clear day you can see for ever..." I haven't seen this mountain in reality, although I've travelled Provence alot and have been as close as Route Napoléon and Sisteron (I love Durance!). But now I'd like to go there, however not on a bike ;o)

Nice shot, Viviane. I particularly love the bell tower and the mountain ranges as the background. I can't say that I agree with what the philosopher said; it looks quite nice to me. I feels the image is a bit bottom heavy for me and the tree branches attracts too much attention. Also you still have some margin for USM :D

As usual, your picture is fine, crisp, and shows at its best your native land's beauty, cultural and natural.

Magnifiques couleurs.

A good point-of-view. Excellent composition as well. Puting a little of everything in the frame altogether did work here. Good picture.

Composition is so very strong here, Viviane! I do wish the church were sharper, but this is marvelous work. Light, tones, colors--all add up to an interesting and pleasant image.

He Viviane, you were more skilled than I because you hadn't the horrible light spot I had on my version...
I'm curious to understand where you standed. On the roof itself ? I can't remember any place to ne high enough to shoot like this. When I was resting under the trees, you chose to climb the church. That's it ?
Well, I do like your framing very much. We embrace the ladscape and have a nice overview of these charming roofs of the Provence. One thing negative only : I find the scene a little over-exposed. The histogram shows a rather big part of the scene in the extreme lights.
