Photographer's Note

Wednesday afternoon, indian summer conditions: sunshine, temperature 20°C, no wind. We walked from le Pyla to Le Moulleau on the sand beach, in the Arcachon bay estuary.
For this post, I cropped the original one (see in WS), go to B&W, increase the contrast at maximum and increase also the light, in order to get a "high key" with black and white hues, mainly without grey ones.

J aime beaucoup l idée de cette photo en traitement high-key. Ca donne un nouveau regard. Par contre ca impacte aussi beaucoup le 'piqué' de la photo. Peut etre le crop trop costaud? J irai jeter un coup d oeil sur l original.
Ca fait plaisir de voir un peu d experimentation.

Bonjour Claude,

Excellent photograph of this sequence of boats. For a while, I couldn't make out whether it's a series of different boats, or a multiple exposure of one boat. And then I saw the different patterns on the sails of the boats. Really a remarkable photograph - your choice of black and white in this photo is fantastic. I love the different poses of the men in the boats. Very well done indeed!

Great graphic shot, Claude. I think I'd have cloned out the buoy at the front, it sort of disturbes the graphism a bit for me. Even besides that, it still is a fine piece of work, if you ask me. Congratulations, have a great weekend.

A hugely impressive photograph - all the 'tricks' you have tried with it have worked perfectly. B&W, panoramic crop, high contrast. There is almost a story to be written based on the positions of the sailors in their respective crafts. Wonderful, thank you, Iain.

J'aime beaucoup ta compo et l'idée du passage au noir et blanc quasi high-key. Par contre ton posttraitement semble avoir un peu altéré la qualité de l'imag.

beau travail de post traitement egalement mais sincčrement j'aime bien aussi l'original, le petit manque de netteté me gčne un peu. Ceci dit, je serais bien incapable d'experimenter comme celŕ , bravo !

J'aime beaucoup l'idée de celle-ci męme si la qualité de la photo n'est pas géniale.
Difficile de faire plus noir & blanc comme photo !
La répétition des bateaux apporte un graphisme intéressant réhaussé par le traitement.
C'est bien vu et c'est original. Et ça donne envie d'essayer !
