Photographer's Note
I won a photographic prize: a week end sailing from Rochefort to the Ré island. We were lucky enough to cross the tall ship Belem, with her all sails on the 3 masts.
Wink to the Vendée Globe sailing race, where the 2 first boats arrive within a few hours after 78 days of sailing around the globe.

Bonjour Clodo,

Good Morning Claude,
What a sight to greet you, as you sailed the ocean! It is like the scene from a movie, though, fortunatly, there is no skull and cross bones in sight!
I really like how you have framed the shot with the rigging of your own boat.
The red floatation device is strongly positioned for f/g impact and to set the mood of the shot.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Claude,
What a lucky fellow you are - to have won such a wonderful prize! But you must have excelled at your photography in order to win that prize too. Congratulations!!
And what better picture to bring back from your sailing trip - a truly beautiful photograph of a very beautiful tall ship in full sail before the wind!
Not just a simple picture of this sailing ship - but a picture with wonderful foreground interest too - the bright red lifebelt and the sight of the gunwale of your own boat make an excellent foreground for the view of the tall ship on a dark sea and against a lovely blue sky.
Gorgeous colours, excellent composition, fine light, perfect exposure and exquisite depth of field and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. I must add this to my "favourites"!
P.P.S. And now I have just noticed that this picture was actually from a scanned colour slide taken 17 years ago - even better!!

Bonjour Claude,
I know perfect make a picture on a boat is not easy, with the cords and other subjects.
But I find your picture absolutely very nice, I am a big fan of sailships Excellent composition, nice perspective and depth image.
Very well done, TFS.
Amicalement,
John.

...and I like this photo. The background is superb, and the foreground is just a part of a marine daily life. An interesting and original composition. TFS!

Claude
J'ai tout de suite pensé aux images du Vendée Globe vues ŕ la télé quand les deux premiers étaient pratiquement bord ŕ bord. Jolie rencontre avec ce fameux trois-mâts.
Amicalement
