Photographer's Note
Continuing my day trip around the Gard department we came to the commune of Sainte Anastasie which is actually made up of four small hamlets and villages; Russan, Aubarne, Vic et Campagnac. This image of Rue Centrale is from the medieval hamlet of Aubarne which is known to have been in existence in 951. The commune presently has a population of around 1600 people and is on the banks of the Gardon River. I really enjoyed exploring the narrow ancient villages despite the rain.

Hello chris,

Hello Chris,
The wet street and rainy atmosphere adds much to the mood and helps bring out the tones and textures in the old stones to great effect. A street typical of many French villages but still worth seeing in this well presented image.

Hello Chris,
As Stephen says, the atmosphere you've captured makes this typical street scene special. One almost feels damp just looking at it! The colors and sharpness are very fine. I just wish you had been able to include the top story of the main building in your composition.

Mary

Hi Chris
Great details seen here in the rock walls of the houses. I like how the road is still wet from the rain. Good lighting management. The sky is overcast and not overexposed. Interesting area.

Hi again Chris,
I like this one :) Great details and lights, with the after-rain weather. You even captured the "Rue centrale" on the corner, nice!
Cheers,
