Porsac'h, a photo from Bretagne, West

Photographer's Note

I am not experimented with B&W, but I found it fitted very well this subject and the winter sky was a little pale to make a colour photo. So I tried B&W ... This photo was taken close to Porsac'h, on the coast from Le Pouldu to Doëlan in Clohars-Carnoët, South Finistčre, Brittany. A little and cute sandy bay bottom of cliffs, some waves ended there. The problem when you take photos is that you are not aware on what is around you. So my foot were wet after a wave stronger than the others came !

Well chosen POV and good compo and frame.
I would have lightened up the picture because it is a bit dark and therefor a bit dull.

Hi Olivier,
the picture is very dramatic with the rugged rocks and the foamy sea. The beach seem to be very inhospitable but romantic. I like it.

bonne idée ce N&B, je trouve que ca va bien a ce type de sujet. J aime bien la compo avec la diagonale d ecume finissante et le tas d algue en premier plan.
Pour le traitement de l image, je trouve que ca manque de contraste, un peu plat comme rendu. Il faudrait jouer avec l outil courbes dans photoshop. Le passage par cet outil est quasi indispensable pour tout traitement N&B. Je ne peux malheureusement pas faire de WS en ce moment n etant pas sur mon PC pour illustrer tout ca. Si j y pense, j essaierai a mon retour.

It was worth getting wet feet for this wonderful image of the rocky seashore. It's happened to me plenty of times. Tripod legs slowly sinking into the shifting sand during a slow shutter is another hazard.
Your POV was well chosen so the line of the creeping wave leads the eye into the scene.
I'm no B&W expert either, but it seems well done.

Bonjour Oliver,
I love this black, it make a stronger impression on me. It's timeless and vintage. Good depth, I like the foregrond of sea plants, sand and foam. feels like I can just step in there and become black and white too or colors in the black and white world. :)

Salut Olivier,
Pas facile le N/B mais je trouve que pour un de tes premiers essais, tu t'en tires bien. Il aurait fallu, je pense, éclaircir un peu les gris clairs de l'écume pour donner + de contraste. Mais en tout cas le cadrage est superbe avec un bon choix de POX au ras du sable.

J'aime bien le noir et blanc ici, car les rochers n'apportaient surement pas beaucoup de couleur, bon choix.
Belle composition (la petite algue en premier plan).
