The Viaduct on the Rance
In the nineteenth century, the port gradually lost its importance with the construction of a road bridge which opened up the city in 1852, and with the arrival of the railway in 1879. The city sees the building of many impressive homes and gradually transformed into destination resorts, especially popular with the British.
Despite a fire in 1907 destroyed five houses in timber, and a bombing in August 1944, the city remained presqu'intacte since the beginning of the twentieth century. On the night of 6 to 7 June 2007, a small portion of the wall surrounding the city collapsed and require further consolidation work.
Today, the city has largely restored its heritage. Half-timbered houses still lining up Cordeliers, rue de l'Horloge, the famous street of Jerzual and other paved surfaces of the center. The church Saint-Sauveur and Saint-Malo rise amid the old parishes of the city.
Very touristy, the town was the setting in several scenes of the film Armageddon Michael Bay (1998), during the passage of the asteroid over the France just before it crashed in Paris.
Dinan beyond today's walls and extends to common Léhon, Quévert, and Taden Lanvallay.

The old bridge of Dinan
The old stone bridge that makes the charm of the little port has almost completely changed in appearance in 1923. It included previously 3 arches, one of wood was found to allow the passage of many vessels traveling between the inland and sea barges carrying mostly wooden barges were loaded with sand, but many vessels allowed to export the paintings that were the result of the most important crafts of the city: about 1 500 weavers were still the main resource in the early 19th century.
To enable the upstream passage, the old bridge was equipped with a wooden walkway, raised for the occasion.
Some boats did a temporary halt, loading or unloading of goods further ... After a bowl of cider or back stronger soon served in one of the bars of the port, the sailors became boatmen continued their journey upstream ...
After its destruction, the old structure has not been reconstituted such that at the origin: it now has more than 2 arches, more suited to gauge the current boats.

Hola amiga Valerie ---->
Difficult the control of the light when
the sky has so much force, but the contrast with
the viaduct and the bridge,
they do of your photo a good work
of color and framing.

Hi, Valerie. The shapes of the arches are very good, and so is the texture. Good reflections on the water. Congratulations!

Hi Valerie, This is such a great photo.. To get both a viaduct and a bridge into the same image.. just the sort of image I would love to shoot. Well captured, nice and sharp and well composed and cropped. Thanks for the useful note. TFS.. Rich

Hi Valerie,
I like this place it is amazing. You caught two bridges with one shot. The composition is great again.
Although again this is the type of weather when I would probably leave my camera at home, I just dont like the white sky. I think I can really feel the sad cold overcast atmosphere from your photo.
Have a good weekend,

dear Valérie,
wow,
double arch bridges are splendidly combined in one view,
back long and wide arch bridge makes the open back stage, and fore flat bridge looks the forestage,
old stones show me tasteful colors and river water is still and settled,
thank you for your wonderful shot,
Akihisa
