Photographer's Note
La Tour Magne (Great Tower), the ruined Roman tower on top of Mont Cavalier, Nimes. The Great Tower, is the only one left standing from the ancient city walls built by Augustus in 15 BC. It dominates the whole plain and is a focal point for lines of communication.
Originally, it was an oval dry stone tower similar to the one in the neighbouring oppidum of Nages at a maximum height of 18m and already part of a rampart. During Roman times its height was nearly doubled to 32 m. Today it is possible to climb to the top of the tower and enjoy the panoramic vista over Nimes and the surrounding plain.
You can see the view HERE.

A really well composed shot. The tree and the tower work well together, providing a nice contrast between the straight lines of the manmade object and the more freeflowing lines of the natural subject.

Hi Chris!
Superb building photo. Good composition and structure. Maybe a little too much yellow, but it may only be deceived on my monitor in my eyes .. The feeling of space, depth explanations of the good.
Nice building, good work.

Hi Chris,
Nice composition. The tower is located on the left of the image, which is probably better than if it was in the center of the image. The tree on the right gives the right picture magic. Even the blue sky and white clouds is excellent.

Hello Chris,
The details of the masonry of the Tour Magne are effectively highlighted by an excellent light. Contrast with the sky is better effect. I like the grassy foreground and his trees. A very beautiful image of the ancient inheritance of Nimes. The photograph is of great quality. congratulations.
