Photographer's Note

After Louise, I'm going to show you a few other traditional sailboats from Granville. Many maritime towns in Normandy and Brittany (and further) harbours old sailboats, cared for by people who fell in love with them and want to keep them alive, for the beauty of their lines, for the memories of sailors past, or just for the fun and pleasure they give.

Here is "Notre Dame des Flots", built in Granville in 1952. Her hull is shaped like a fishing boat, but she has been a leisure boat from the start. Her current owner bought her in the 1970's and care for her very carefully. The comfort on board is simple, but she's a lot of fun to sail.

The picture was taken during a maritime festival in Binic in 2002. One of the jib sails (in the front) had been taken down to allow a better view (there were a lot of boats on the water).
