Photographer's Note

Today, a old scanned picture of an event I saw in Sète, South of France.
Since the whole beginning of the existence of Sète the men always practised this spectacular combat: Tournaments. Being held firmly on the tintaine (the high end of the boat) and armed only with one shield with wood (bulwark) and a lance, the jousters clash on the channels of the centre town of Sète. The end of the lance is made of three steel points so that at the time of the meeting it "hangs" well on the shield of the adversary. The goal of the competition is to launch the adversary. Here, it was a point for the blue ones...
