Photographer's Note
As kind of present to Peter/Homerhomer who discussed the original picture yesterday and Sohrab who sent me this link and just for fun for all the friends I got on TE the last two years... ;o)))
Technical changes to this Re-Post: Cropped a little bit of up side, transformed in B&W modus, added a grain on the background only, made the dog more contrasted and sharper, added a frame. What do you think?

He first looked terrible!... But everybody could walk around him. After two hours wandering the Baux de Provence, he still was there looking for a bit of sun...
But of course this picture is not about the dog - he just happened to be there - but about the picturesque narrow streets, the old stoned houses witnessing traces of the past and which could easily get you to imagine walking throught midlle ages time.

«No one passes through Les Baux without a sense of true nostalgia, for here, more than anywhere else, the labours of time show what becomes of the most ambitious undertakings: ruined walls and breaches onto the void. The stones of man’s proud constructions devoured by the sun and wind. Only traces remain of their ambition, fears and solitude»

This is smashing, not often (ok it actually never happened until now :;-) there are pictures posted with me in mind (be it individually or part of a group), so this is a really nice surprise.
I love this version even better than the original, mostly because it seems that BW version fits better with the textures and light available, slight crop made the composition better balanced.
3 points from me;-).

'navond, Viviane.
Bedankt!

Hahaha, wat een dikkerd! A friend of Yordi?
Now it's your turn to make ME laugh. Thanks very much for that.
He's soo ugly, but yet so disarming this way. with his stupid harness, as if you need to tie him.
He sits indeed in a wonderful street.
I think you did a great job in PP, Viviane!

I think I recognize that fella Viviane. But I'm not naming names... ;-)
Although I like the color version as well, the grain in this one works really well. But please don't suggest this is about the narrow walkway and structures, THIS IS about the dog. He should be happy about how well you've captured him in his sturdy presence. This is both fine and fun, at least to my eye.

The picture is much better in B&W, it really emphasizes both the beauty and patterns of the architecture, and the very funny look of the dog. I really like it.
Technically there's one thing that bothers me, I don't know if it's the grain addition or just the fact that you have done more processing, but the grain looks a bit "artificial" to me, it appears mixed with compression artifacts and it looks strange.
It was a good idea anyway and I really really enjoy the outcome. Great job.

Funny shot Viviane.
il semble que c'est le gardien de l'allée, je n'oserais pas passer par là. ;)

Well seen and well captured, Viviane, and delicately performed post processing work. I like it very much. I hadn't seen the original - as it was uploaded prior to my joining TE - and I think it very good too. This B&W shows more of the torn walls of Baux (thanks for putting in a link). The dog? Well, I'll say John Bull, but we all know who I mean. And he (the dog) is just hilarious - and a bit sad - in his attitude. Very well done!
