Photographer's Note

In Cayenne (French Guyana), while waiting for the launch of the space rocket Ariane (in Kourou, some 40 miles/70 km from there, but perfectly visible, you'll see later), we enjoyed the view of many birds gathering on the seashore at low tide to forage for shellfish, worms and crabs in the mud.
French Guyana is at the edge of the Amazonian forest, not very far from the Equator, and wildlife is everywhere. On the shore that day, a few meters away from the houses, there were close to 20 different species of birds.
This particular beach is very muddy and not good for bathing.

The colors are similar on the slide, but not exactly as it was in reality. I didn't use a filter and I guess the colors are the result of the strong contre-jour.
