Photographer's Note
One more picture taken yesterday afternoon on the coastal road from Guidel to Lorient. After the storm the sea was still strong and white with foam. A few hours earlier at high tide, the coastal road was covered by foam. This is a picture of the Loch beach, which has a good reputation for surfboarding. It is on the other side of the road from the Petit Loch pond (previous picture), by the Loch fort, a fortification built by the duke of Aiguillon in 18th century to prevent english landing not far from the rich port of Lorient. In the foreground you can see another fortification, a more recent one, built by Nazis in World War 2 to protect the submarine base of Lorient. There are many remains of this Atlantic Wall on the coast from Guidel to Lorient.

Bonjour Olivier ,

hi Olivier
Beautiful scene and beautiful light, and the whole photo is put into context when reading your note, such a dark history to this place, it is impossible to tell by looking at this glorious and peaceful scene. Time really can change anything.
best wishes

Hello Olivier
A splendid photo of this piece of Breton coast, with the slanting sunlight of winter after the storm. The German fortification makes a great foreground interest, and captures the light, while the beach stretches away behind it. Marvellous sky to make this picture have great atmosphere. Looks magnificent in the larger version. Thanks for the map view, which shows it is between Auray and Concarneau, which I visited years ago.
Regards,
Andrew
