Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Reims is a beautiful city with some extraordinary buildings. As we walked down the Cours de Jean Baptiste, I was fascinated by some of the sculptures on the buildings. This sculpture was, of all places, on the facade of the HSBC building. I can only assume that the building was used for something different, in the past.
The facade of the building had many of these sculptures projecting from its upper storey. Many people looked at me quizzically, as I tried to get a good viewpoint upwards!
I will add a workshop here to try to give an impression of the building.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
I would really like to visit Reims one day. Excellent photo looking up to this sculpture and the many other details of the façade. I like the soft, warm colours a lot.

Hello Beverley,
A superb upward pov and not the the usual gargoyles you often see in German and French Cathedrals, so it's nice to see a human figure for a change. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
It was probably always a bank building, the banks knew how to spend their money in those days to attract well to do customers. Excellent close-up on this sculpted figure. Well exposed with nicely rendered colours and detailing.
Very cold here today, but dry and bright for once.

Hello Bev,
This almost looked like a vertical photo mistakenly uploaded horizontally. Such a bug seems to exist here. But no, of course this was just that you had the good sense to keep an eye on what could be seen above you. That is always a useful idea when walking along a street. To me this seems to be a rather original sculpture in an unusual place, so you must have been very happy to discover it. The odd perspective is quite amusing, but it is also a very well exposed photo with a good 3D effect.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev, Judging from your posts, your visit to Basel was rather short. And the city deserves a bit longer visit. There are so many beautiful places to see.
Funny detail is taken from the building in Reims. Curious sightReims is famous especially for the beautiful Gothic Cathedral. But looking around and up, one can observe also other interesting things.
Kind regards MAlgo

Ciao Bev
Saluti
Carlo

I saw there are several same statue mounted up the façade on this building, Beverley, and wonder who was this important figure to be immortalized in a returning pattern upon such a beautiful front entrance of a bank...
Anyway, it is always nice to look up when traveling and discover new things on houses.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Bev,
very funny title!
I like your photo. I have seen so many times something similar but never had an idea how to approach it.
Very good angle chosen, great final effect.
Great reportage,

Hello, Bev!
Curious sculpture, with impressive details which you captured with very good light and textures, and I like the monochromatic tones of the image! Excellent sharpness too! Wonderful job!

yes, you got a special view of this man escaping from the façade. I liked the way you used the other lines of the façade around him. This image made me remind a special building in the main square of glasgow.
take care

This picture really attracted my attention and I have a friend who knows Reims quite well, so I asked he if she knew about it.
She told me that this street “Cours Jean-Baptiste Langlet” was completely bombed down during the 1st World War, like most of the city.
But in this particular street, they rebuilt, experimenting in the “Art Nouveau” style during the 1920’s. These statues are not stone but concrete, which perhaps accounts for the grey repair work which can be seen on the picture.
Congratulations on your capture ! Your POV is excellent, and thanks for your sharp eye which has made me learn something new again :-)
All the best.
Marie-Louise.
