Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have recently shown you some scenes from Roscoff but if you go there, you will be amazed by the long pier.
This pier, nearly 600 metres long, completed in 1934, gives access to the ferry to the Isle of Batz. The distance to the Isle of Batz is just 3.5 km which seems not that much longer than the length of the pier!!
The pier is actually longer than I have shown but this view, for me seemed a better composition. I also, liked how the sunlight was creating patterns on the tall, pier supports, from this position.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
The colors of the sea and the juxtaposition concrete poles made this picture attractive.
There is a good sense of depth, wonderful light and clarity, simple as that.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev
A long walk on a long pier is always better than a long walk on a short pier. I like the slight elevation in the centre across the channel, allowing yachts and boats to pass under. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
The pier is really long, and since we can't see where it started there is no limit to our imagination of its full length. The photo has very good depth, as well as a nice balance between light and dark blue areas. The real cherry on the cake of the composition is the person seen at the top. (S)he is eye-catching and also well placed a third from the side.
Kind regards,
Gert

and this isn't even the beginning of the pier. Good depth and light here, and as always I like to see someone in the photo just to give some life and in this case scale.

Hello Bev,
What a very long pier with a simple construction on one pole system, this for the stability!
Sharp and clear photographed
Excellent composition, and soft of colours.
Very well done, TFS.

Hi Bev,
The length of the per is creating depth and perspective. The point of view is showing the details of the pier. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

the pier has a more modern structure than those I saw in UK, a nice view with these two different blue hues.
here another sunny, humid and very hot day of summer.

Hi Bev,
Very strange pier. Obviously the reason for this is big tides and shallow coast. It would be interesting to take a ferry to that island. I like this angle and bright blue colour of water.

Dear Beverley,
What does photography means? I could talk or write a lot about it - don't forget that I'm a lawyer, I'm paid to do so -, this time, however I will spare you from a long speech. I simply add it to my favourites due to the fact this photo is simply excellent. It has a certain timeless atmosphere that moved me.
Have a nice evening!
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Bev,
Now that's certainly a long pier! Your POV lets us see just how far it juts into the water, and how the slight uphill incline eventually straightens out. It's just an eye-catching view. Take care!

Hi Bev
My time in Bretagne was mostly on the south coast so I didn't get to see this amazing pier. Well taken featuring the peak in the middle.
cheers

Hi Beverley
The perspective and composition are spot on, I also think the tranquility that oozes from this image makes you want to take that walk...

Hi Bev,
ha ha,
you are right! Maybe they originally intended to build the bridge over to the island but then for some reasons they stopped. Maybe unions of ferry company protested?
Nice repeated motif. What I find interesting here is that there is always a single pillar which makes me feel as if it was not stable. From this angle the pier feels also very narrow. Great capture!
Very well done,
M

Hello Beverley,
long piers, also called "Seebrücke" are quite common for the German Baltic Sea coasts which are very shallow. Our longest one at Heringsdorf (Usedom island) measures 508 m, so your 600 m are very, very long.
Nice graphics, and only few people add at little salt.
Regards from Rhineland, not hit by the blizzard.
