Photographer's Note

Well, I wanted to go on exploring new fields of photography. I started with something not too dangerous : the Mandarin duck... Now, it’s a big piece. The female lion ! No far destination. I left the Bercy pond and went to the Vincennes zoo.

I made quite a collection of shots that day. The most difficult element was the cold weather in fact.

I won’t teach you many things and prefer to let you have a look at Callie de Wet series to know better the lions.

No change to the format, I used the autolevel to correct the white balance as the sky was quite cloudy. I sharpened the scene a little bit. Then I tried something new (*) : the “curves adjustments” in Photoshop. A really subtle tool which enabled me to strengthen the saturation of the dark tones (mainly the lion in fact) with as little impact as possible on the enlighten parts.

(*) tip found on Luminous Landscape.
