Photographer's Note

Boldly positioned on the Champ-de-Mars , opposite the Military School, artist Clara Halter's Wall for Peace is exciting the curiosity of Parisians. This 9 metre high wall resembles a kind of glass, metal and timber pavilion. Thirty-two stainless steel columns are distributed evenly around the wall. On each of them, as well as on the wall itself, the word 'peace' is reproduced in different languages, among them Arabic, Braille, Greek, Hebrew, Polish, Tibetan...The Wall for Peace is freely inspired by the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. The Wall for Peace, created as part of the millennium celebrations was officially inaugurated on March 30, 2000 by the President of the Republic, Jacques Chirac.
