Abbey of Fleury I, a photo from Centre, Central

Photographer's Note

The monks who had initially settled in Fleury transfer the relics from St Benoit towards the end of VII century. The site then becomes object of all the devotions as well as a great arts centre of IX in XII centuries. Calms will be broken by the unloading of Norman which plunders and sets fire to all on their passage. Follows a new boom with the construction of the Basilica, one of best testimonys of the Romance time in Loire Valley.

Beautiful architectural and historical shot. The arches are very grand - because of the light colors outside and the dark interior.

Nicely done. I love the tones and the texture of the stone. The depth of the columns is felt with the darkness and the other arches looming in the shadows. It's very graceful architecture and very well captured in this shot. Good job.

Heureusement qu'il y a une suite, car je voudrais en connaître davantage sur cette Abbaye (je me régale d'avance).

J'aime beaucoup cette architecture. Les arches sont trčs belles (rénovées, probablement ?) et la texture des pierres est bien rendue.
Toute cette obscurité au-delŕ est assez impressionnante. Les abbayes livrent difficilement leurs secrets, on a l'impression de passer dans un autre monde.
Vite, la suite.... ;-)

Bonsoir Didi,

une presentation de l'architecture tres reussie et bien correcte. Je porte un interet pour ce sujet thematique (comme je suis un tailleur amateur). L'utilisation du ciment blanc avec des poudres en couleurs donne un aspect chaud des pilliers. Je te remercie de ce choix qui me donne des idees. Amicalement a toi et tres content de t'avoir revu.
