Photographer's Note

The shadows were lengthening when I took this shot from the raised bank of the Rhone. It was exactly 7pm in the wonderful city of Arles. The photo looks down a narrow street, into the historic quarter, and a man ambles across, seemingly on his way home from a day's work. Or is that a camera bag around his shoulder? I don't think so. But then again, it is Photo Rencontres time in Arles; I've never seen so many people with BIG cameras. This shot with my modest Pentax was under-exposed and a polarising filter was fitted, explaining the sky.
