Photographer's Note

This photo was taken last winter here in my region in southern Westphalia. It shows a forester's lodge in the mountains of the low mountain ridge Rothaargebirge near the village Hilchenbach-Lützel. It is situated in an altitude of about 650 meters a.s.l. (please see map view) - by the way, in a wonderful cross-country skiing region.

Hi Frank,
Beautiful winter photo. The colors and light are the most compelling and captivating aspects. I love the blue sky as well as the nice house with white snow, an excellent contrast. The white snow covered area also blends well with the colors and provides a good deep feeling to the image.

Hi Frank. Believe it or not, I still haven't experienced a white Christmas. When I was seven or so it snowed in Dalmatia for one day and didn't "colour" Christmas day itself. Yet, being a European, i cannot envisage Christmas without snow even though here in Melbourne it could be 20-40 degrees on the day, depending on the wind whether it's blowing from Antarctica or the desert of central Australia. Lovely image, very dear to my sentiments.Season's greetings to you and have a safe and healthy new year. Klaudio.

This is very beautiful! Snow, a half-timbered house and the forest behind. Ski tracks along the hiking path and some blue parts of the sky. If winter always was like this, one can easily accept it. This is a beautiful Christmas card!

How nice that you at least once in a year remember the old friends from TE. What a charming winter photo. Nice to see such a white unspoiled snow. Beautiful half-timbered building.I would like to be there and feel the cold fresh air! But we had already white holidays this year - white Easter. Superb composition, sharpness and colours.

Good Morning Frank,

This is a lovely, seasonal shot, like a winter wonderland. I like your angled viewpoint which creates pleasing, diagonal leads. There is a fine sense of depth from the f/g snow to the sharply exposed house.

Here the wind is raging around the house, bringing sharp downbursts of rain or hail, then clearing the sky for a quick little glimpse of blue sky. Branches have dropped off trees and anything loose is being swirled by the wind! Tomorrow should be calmer.

Jolie scčne hivernale avec tout ce qu'il faut pour créer une belle carte postale. Le village paraît endormi sous la neige. J'aime la lumičre douce et les couleurs naturelles qui donnent une atmosphčre apaisante. L'image est bien composée avec cette oblique qui part du bas de la photo et suit la ligne tracée dans la neige. Une trčs belle réalisation.
Ich wünsche dir ein schönes Weihnachtsfest und hoffe dich noch auf TE wieder zu sehen.
