Schloss Montabaur, a photo from Rheinland-Pfalz, West

Photographer's Note

Schloss Montabaur was until 1945 the seat of the district administrators office of the old Unterwesterwaldkreis, and then seat of the Montabaur regional government. Today it is owned by the Akademie Deutscher Genossenschaften (Academy of German Cooperatives), which has expanded it for use as a 4-star conference hotel and schooling centre for the Raiffeisenbanken and credit unions. It stands well in sight of the town of Montabaur on the Schlossberg, 321 metres above sea level.

The picture was originally captured on slide film. It has been digitised and 'cleaned-up' in Photoshop CS2.

Hi Stephen, this is a beautiful scan. I notice with my scans that the sky tends to blow-out. I;ve done a WS to show you how I try and clean up my older scanned photos. I like the colours in this picture,especially the blue window frames on the unusual building. The Autumn colours on the right of the photo are beautiful, and look great against the blue roof.
