Photographer's Note

The Eider is the longest river of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The river starts near Neumünster and reaches the southwestern outskirts of Kiel on the shores of the Baltic Sea, but flows to the west, ending in the North Sea.
In the early Middle Ages the Eider was a shipping route between the Baltic Sea and the British Isles. Consequently, the middle part of the Eider was appropriated for use as part of the Kiel Canal.
Today the river offers leisure boaters abundant opportunities, as it flows calm despite its strength through tranquil lowlands. Taking a trip on Schleswig-Holsteins most important waterway is to journey back in time. Therefore the tourism industry in Schleswig-Holstein is trying to diversify tourist attractions, promoting all kinds of recreational traffic on the water. Ecological travel by canoe or kayak along the Eider river is promoted as well. Policy makers and tourism agencies also emphasize the cultural and historical roots of the region.

Hello Harriet,
There may have been rain in those clouds, but at this time they still just looked beautiful and created very nice reflections. The sky and the sea provide nice frames for the narrow view of the marina and the colourful activities on land. The light has a superb brightness and the colours are remarkably crisp and clear.

Those clouds has an intense influence on the outcome of the scene, harriet. Reflected on water surface, gave its tone and made a slight drama to the whol;e.
But, a good view of the boats and some vivid colors of the people along the shore.

Hello Harriet,

Those clouds look so low and yet, the light looks relatively bright, especially by reflections in the water, that I suspect there were some gaps in their coverage. They do add real atmosphere to the scene. The boats and the buildings act like a filling in a grey, cloud sandwich!!
It is a very well composed shot, the colour coming from the well placed figures above the jetty.

Wie immer - ein "runder" Beitrag. Ein eindrucksvolles und interessantes Bild und der Begleittext macht einen ein bisschen schlauer ...
Dieser Himmel ist wirklich toll wiedergegeben und man kann sogar die Strukturen in den Wolken klar erkennen. Auch die Spiegelungen tragen zur Bildwirkung bei. Es muss nicht immer Sonnenschein sein!
Alles Gute aus Südwestfalen, wo der Frühling noch zögerlich ist. 2°C heute morgen ...

There is a small part of this view that gives an impression of summer. Above there are dark and sinister clouds. thier reflections in the water make the lower part of the picture. a very attractive pleasant scene, apart from the clouds above.

Hallo Harriet,

das Bild wirkt auf mich so klar und realistisch, dass ich das Gefühl habe, es ist gar kein Foto, sondern ein eine rechteckige Öffnung in meinem Computerbildschirm, durch die man in diese Szenerie hineinklettern kann.

Wie so oft in deinen Bildern sind auch hier Himmelsstimmung und Licht die eigentlichen Hauptdarsteller. Und geschickterweise hast du wieder mal - wie ich es selbst auch gern mache - das Wasser als Spiegel dazu gewählt, um noch mehr von der tollen Stimmung ins Bild zu bekommen.

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn: Genau nach meinem Geschmack. Volle Punktzahl! :-)
