Photographer's Note
Ever After
Today a presentation with the technique of zooming out that I regularly use.
The photos were taken last summer in the Albertinum, one of the museums that are part of the “Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden”.
The beautiful collection mainly contains work from after 1850.
In the museum's “Skulpturenhalle”, a unique and beautiful collection of sculptures has been brought together, showing the brief history of sculpture.
I chose today's upload three photo with the focus on the EVER AFTER sculpture by Liverpool-born and Wuppertal-working sculptor Tony Cragg.
EVER AFTER - Birch plywood.glewed and screwed together, moulded and treated with beeswax

Hello Rob, this set of shots is ‘just my cup of tea’! Lovely work on your part and the part of the artist.
The sharp focusing takes in the lovely layering and curves of the sculpting, beautiful.
The shot of the sculpture hall looks an interesting gallery, full of exciting works.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Rob,
Three interesting images from this superb Dresden art gallery. I like the repetition of the swirling patterns in the main post. Looks like onyx! Tfs!

Hello Rob,
The WS show that this is an interesting sculpture, but it's the very close view in the main photo that really shows how interesting it is. These shapes and patterns and layers stimulate my imagination greatly. After seeing this, the WS come as a surprise. They all show what a beautiful building it is placed in. "Someone" else was clearly also interested in this piece.
Best regards,
Gert
PS Looking for the artist on the net I found his name is Cragg.

Hi Rob,
My first impression, I tought that I was seeing a natural rock formation. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Wonderful close-up to the carved wood sculpture, Rob.
Excellent sharpness as we can see each line that was drawn in a meticulous manner.

Goedemiddag Rob,
Mooi fotowerk Rob, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Hello Rob,
This is an excellent series.
WE feel as if we have been inside the museum, selected this piece of art to scrutinise and moved in closely to appreciate its very fine, close details!
I really like your main shot!
It's possible to move in and out, left and right and see lines and patterns that flow, and interact so well!
Beautiful!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo Rob,

Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,
A quick glimpse on the fingerprint made me think this could be a sculpture of a human face. But closer look assured me it is pure abstraction. And quite wonderful as such! You chose a good angle showing those contours diagonally.

Hello Rob,
This is cool. From the thumbnail I thought I saw a face. The tight crop allows us to see the grains and patterns in the wood, but also keeps the mystery of what this work of art actually is. Take care!

Hi Rob,
very interesting series of photos. Zooming out allows us to better appreciate this work of art.
Certainly from a close up it is hard to imagine the whole.
I have visited just the Gallery of Old Masters in Dresden, but I see there is so much more to do over there.
Very well done,
M
