Photographer's Note

I was already late but as I hurried down the steps of the Castle hill to the district of Platanos, I made several "just-a-last-one" stops to take a picture. While framing this picture I was thinking of excuses like "who knows if I'll ever find a bright red vespa under such a strong warm light again? It looks as if begging for a photo, I can't just walk on by." I took its picture and continued down the steps to the right.

Two of the six old windmills that stand by the road leading to the Castle made it into the frame too.

This is a wonderful red cheese and a very tasty photo. Your note makes me smile. I hope you were alone that day, because whoever may have accompanied you would have sighed "Oh no, not again" every time you found a "once in a lifetime" photo opportunity. I agree this vespa provided an irresistible foreground, but incidentally you also found a very nice background in the former windmills. The afternoon light is adorable.

Told you long ago, that best pictures come with a bit of a surprising moment and not premeditated.
This one is a good example, and you had no second thoughts, but to take this one.
Red Vespa really attractive color and stood a bit unusually on the field area - hope it is still in riding condition, just the jack is not functuning...

Hi Ourania,
You are right, this image was begging to be taken, the little scooter looks nice and relaxed lying against the rock, like it is really enjoying this beautiful light. The color it has created in your image is really beautiful.
I do not think I could ever walk past one of the scooter people and not feel obliged to take a shot :) great result, and well worth that extra stop. This adds a lot to the journey up this mountain that you have shared.

Ahaha, I literally laughed out loud reading your note. Not laughing at you, but with you....as I'm sure we're not the only ones with the same kind of mindset..."Oh, just one more, real quick"...it's a virtual addiction, yeah? :)

I would venture a guess this little red Vespa was indeed calling out, and you were the right person to have happily obliged its request of being photographed. A good eye to catch this scene, and a brilliant composition to arrange the three primary colors in a vertical manner and even include the secondary features of the windmills in the backdrop.

An image that helps tell your somewhat "frantic" journey down the hill, and we're certainly glad you listened to your inner photographer. :) Fun in the sun! Have a great day ahead. All the best.

J'aime beaucoup la conception de cette belle image. Le scooter rouge prend la vedette bien appuyé sur cette borne blanche. On peu bien voir d'oů il vient et les moulins ŕ vent sont beaux sur la colline.

come resistere ad una vespa rossa, impossibile.
L'inclusione dei mulini sarebbe stata molto efficace, se non ci fosse stato tutto il resto, avrei preferito tagliare la foto subito sopra la vespa eliminando tutta la parte superiore.

A fine way to explore Leros as seen with your classical red Vespa parked on the pathway surrounded with warm saturated colors and history beckoning.

Hello Ourania,
I am glad you stopped to smell the roses (mixing metaphors here). Thanks to your skillful composition, the Vespa balances the windmills lining up with them. Thanks to the sharpness, we can be amused by the amateurish paint job someone gave the Vespa with all the streaks and uneven coats of paint and the little bit of smudge on its headlight. You caught yourself a gem here.
