Photographer's Note
Taken on the ferryboat going back from a day trip to Zakynthos. The sunset was wonderful, I bet that a more skilled photographer in this field would create a masterpiece...
I saw this gentleman in his pensive pose and couldn't resist stealing this moment...He just looked so beautiful there leaning on the railing ,absorbed in his thoughts, looking a bit sad.
Was it Victor Hugo that wrote 'Melancholy is the pleasure of being sad'...

Hello Marija
You brightened my evening with this capture. Now definetely I can sleep better :-D.
I very agree with what V.Hugo write.
I love it...I mean, the stolen moment you captured.
I feel it too from here.I love everything about it(the tilt, the dark tones, the mood)...it`s beautiful.
Kind of windy day,that day.
Thanks for this great picture.
My kind regards

hello Marija,
hard to believe this is not a staged photo, everything is just so right to make a superb add for a perfume or a watch. seriously, I love the subtle elegance of the shot, and how fully the one word - "melancholy" - describes it. and I entirely agree with the choise of B&W, the colours would have to work really hard to create the same delicate mood. excellent work, my compliments.
with best regards,
Kristine

Hi Marija
A lovely B/W matching the melancholy mood of your composition. I like the vertical frame acommodating his posture and the rail that creates side lines.

Atmospherical picutre. there is feeling in it. I love the vignetting in this one focusing the viewers attention in the middle sweetly.
The expression of the man is quite successful.
Well done Marija.

Hello Marija,
I love trips on ferries, they have a special atmosphere and you rendered one of those beautifully here, nostalgic, windy, salty even I would say. I like the light tilt and the light and color of the sky and horizon are superb as is the overall b/w. Great work.
TFS, Kind regards

mood captured very well here... the foggy mist is crawling out of your photo spraying melancholy on my dekstop too ;)) not sure exactly why, but your shot reminds me a lot of the movie Godfather ;))... in any case, i congratuate on this shot and moment well stolen.

Marija,
wonderful sensitivity that you show here through your lens and additional PP skills. The B&W really fits the mood and the strong vignetting supports the focus on the person slightly bending over suggesting an introspective and melancholic moment. Even the tilt, something that I don't appreciate to often, got this image into the right ambience.

Bonjours,

Hi Marija!
Your sensitivity is clearly visible, almost in each and every photo of yours! This one is one of the best portraits I have seen in a long time, the title is fully justified. Very atmospheric, very moody, perfect choice of b&w to enhance the atmosphere and beautiful vignetting on the edges! Congratulations!

very moody indeed. I love the way you tilt the camera and create this improptu effect. I wished the pole was not there..

You managed to capture this very typical Greek moment by avoiding the typical sun-see-and-blue-sky-mood with obligatory accompanies this type of motifs. Although I’m stuck to the postcard genre my self I love photos which exceed this sort of style.
Great shot!

I love the way that your sensitive eye caught something more than a beautiful sunset.
I love the way you made the Hugo's words, a good picture, changing the beautiful sunset's colors to B/W, gloomy tones, which suits with the melancholy feelings of the man with the white shirt.
A master piece dear Marija, even without the beautiful sunset colors.

Great b&w Marija. I like that wrinkles in the man shirts and the humid atmosphere all around. Looks like it was very foggy and raining (even if it wasn't...). I like your burn/dodge work. The vertical pole on the left is crucial.
