Proleek Dolmen, County Louth
The Proleek Dolmen is located behind the Ballymascanlon Hotel on the beautiful Cooley Pensinula, in County Louth. This is a huge Dolmen about 3m high and has a huge capstone weighing approximately 35 tons. Legend says that a wish will be granted to anyone who can throw a pebble on its capstone so that it stays there.

Awesome, Steve! I just love what the long exposure did to the clouds. Great colors, wonderful sharpness. At the risk of repeating myself: Awesome, Steve! :-)
Take good care!

Hello Stephen,
Astonishing light in this photo, almost unreal but with a wonderful result. The fuzzy clouds stand like a crown above the dolmen and some stars add to the strange atmosphere, well done.
Regards,
Paul

it is but a pretty capture, with the foreground illuminated and with the long shutter, wish i seen a star trail, would have been a flavour to the otherwise dominating big boulder..
nice one stephane

hello Stephen
this now looks special!
is there a lamp illuminating the stone?
I guess so, but also wonder that it is not overexposed since the exposure on the sky seems long!?

Hi,
You would tell me that you have used your car's headlight, I wouldn't be that suprprised, although the light seems to fall perfectly around the dolmen, but at the same time, it seems to be low enough so it comes from the level of a car... Would that explain why we can see the shadow of a stick, or maybe your tripod leg?
Just like bikini models at the beach, lit by huge softbox and standing in front of a sunset, this dolmen stands out of the ordinary and become sexier than real life. The effect is very convincing and punchy. The sky in itself is gorgeous, with a vaporous softness and nice colours.
By working with this kind of set-up, you are bringing back mysticism to this place, although neolithic people were probably using fire in these days, instead of remote flash or headlights... :-p))
Cheers!
André
