Clare Island

Photographer's Note

Clare Island is located on the Western Coast of Ireland, County Mayo. This shot is of the island's cliffs, and you can see Croagh Patrick's peak on Ireland proper in the distance. The island itself is only about 15 square miles, but its worth a visit. It is the home of Grace OMalley. She is oft cited as The Pirate Queen, however, was mainly, a strong and intelligent woman who managed to hold her own, outwit invaders, and did it with style. She fought for and maintained the honor and respect of both her married and family clans names, and she was quite an amazing woman. Her tomb is located on the island.

Hello, Linda. A nice view of Clare Island with the cliif line leading the eye to Croagh Patrick (Have you climbed it?). Maybe the foreground could be a little sharper.

This is a nicely framed shot exaggerating depth and perspective. The portrait shot gives the depth nicely. The contrast and rich colours give a slightly dramatic feel.
