Photographer's Note
the celtic cross is such a common sight throughout Ireland that one soon becomes accustomed to it. There are countless beautiful and impressing examples to be found around every church.
This fine example is standing at the moneastic site of Glendalough in County Wiklow.
Its origins is unknown but the most popular theory says that is was used to combine the christian cross with the pagan symbol of the sun by the early christians in Ireland.

Hi Daniel,
Despite the really poor weather in Ireland over the past couple of weeks, the light of the sun has been kind to you, to allow you to create the beautiful effects both here and on the lake shot you posted. Its a very glorious light, and makes such a perfect backdrop for this most impressive cross. This looks quite tall too!
All the best
Noel
