upper lake, a photo from Wicklow, South

Photographer's Note

as the sun sets over the upper lake in Glendalough valley in county Wicklow in Ireland, the last rays of sun are sent over the Wicklow mountains.
the upper lake is where the hermit Kevin first settled to live a life of seclusion and meditation. St. Kevins bed is in an artificial cave across the lake, the site can only be reached by boat and there is of course no boat service available.
Earlier excavations suggest that the place was inhabited for thousand of years before the arrival of the monks.

Hi Daniel,
This is really a beauty of a shot. I always find Glendalough to be a place where it is very difficult to shoot, mainly because everytime I go there it seems to be raining very heavily. You have composed the lake beautifully here to be central in the image, and to reflect the colours of tht glorious sky.
One of the nicest shots of Glendalough I have seen, really nicely done.

You have done your best, a good attempt shooting into the light under this difficult circumstances. There's a slight over exposed when the strong sunlight is so harsh although you have got some great colors there. Great effort, Congrats

Hi Daniel,

Interesting image, I think this could pass for both a sunrise or sunset...either way, it's beautiful! The light and colors that you've captured, especially on the surface of the water, are simply stunning and work in perfect contrast to the silhouettes of mountains on each side of the frame. This has such a terrific sense of peace and calm, having only a slight ripple on the lake and a few rays of sun extending from the clouds. Really well done, great shot!

my sons have both been to Ireland and Glendalough valley especially, and the images they brought home seemed very interesting and promising to me. When I see what you show us here, I wonder if or how I can get my wife to visit Eire next year?
