Photographer's Note

I have shared HERE on TrekEarth already four photos of the Lough Tay. It is located in the Wicklow Mountains south of Dublin. It is popularly also known as the "Guinness Lake" not only because it belongs to Guinness Family Estate but also because it usually appears as black as Guinness and the owners have even sprinkled some white sand along one side to resemble the thin layer of foam you get on the pint. The effect is more pronounced in this photo. The light was changing so fast on that day, this picture was taken just few minutes apart from that picture.

Wow, what a spectacular photo. The landscape is really gorgeous with this fantastic mix of very appealing colours, so well saturated by the great lighting, which also goes so well together with the dark clouds.

Wow I'm marvelling at the change in light over such a short space of time between the two photos. It really is a very special lough, and I'm glad that the Guinness Family have treasured it for so long and shared its beauty with others. Wonderful moody grey tones that contrast so nicely with the surrounding countryside and rocks. A pristine image, flawlessly captured. Congrats.

Na tym zdjeciu chmura zdecydowanie korzystniej ulozyla sie w kadrze niz na fotografii , ktora pokazywales wczescniej. Kompozycja jest bardziej zrownowazona. Musze przyznac, ze bardzo urokliwe miejsce. Zaskakuje tez jesienna kolorystyka choc wg daty to polowa grudnia - ale widocznie taki tam klimat. Atrakcyjna kolorystyka, ciekawa gra swiatla - calosc bardzo dobra

Hello Mariusz,
The effect of the white sand is indeed much more pronounced on that other picture but there the water looks a little less dark. I'm afraid that I will only be able to see the similarity with a pint after drinking some Guinness beers :)
Anyway, it's a wonderful natural area whereby the light and the clouds play an important role in obtaining strong atmosphere differences.
I think the grassland on the far right looks very remarkable in this rugged nature.
Superb composition and a wonderful presence of a lot of different colours!

this is a beautiful, timeless landscape but you also captured some very special, transitory effects all over it and they make it even more fascinating. the lighting on that downward slope in the upper middle portion of the frame is A+

love seeing the clouds in the reflective pond, and the colours in the landscape are also an A+ :)

A superb landscape photo in wonderful light. The slanting rays of the sun below a threatening sky always make for a great photo if you expose it well, which you have done here. Great vantage point to capture the scene and the reflection. Beautiful presentation and a good note.

Widzę, ze siegnąłeś dziś do wspomnień z Irlandii. Fantastyczne zdjęcie tego jeziora. Lubie takie zdjęcia krajobrazu. Fenomenalna ostrośś, prześliczne kolory, kompozycja. Bardzo ciekawe swiatło. Mamy tez odbicie w ciemnej wodzie jeziora. Wszystko super.

Hello Mariusz,

You surprised me here, I did not immediately remember this as being in Ireland!

It is a very attractive place and I'm not surprised that you have photographed it at different times from different angles! In this one, it definitely resembles Guinness!
The colours surrounding the Lough are just beautiful, like ginger spice, whilst the interior is dark and smooth.
Although the clouds are dark and interesting, I'm not sure that I would have included them all in this shot. The Lough and the surrounding countryside makes a fine shot using the rule of thirds. Including the whole sky adds a new fraction; it turns it into quarters. Just the tip of the clouds adds enough drama. What do you think?

No matter what this is still easily worth 2 points!!
