Photographer's Note
Glendalough (Gleann Dá Loch, “Valley of the Two Lakes”) is a fascinating monastic settlement in a spectacular natural setting just an hour south of Dublin. The monastery was founded by St. Kevin, a hermit monk who died about 618 AD. The extensive ruins of Glendalough include several early churches, a graceful round tower, and various sites associated with the life of St. Kevin.rnThe area is ideal for walking at all levels, ranging from a short stroll around the ruins to demanding mountain hikes. Lonely Planet Ireland calls Glendalough "truly one of the most beautiful places in Ireland and a highlight of any trip."

Hi Fred
The very last thing I did online was book a b and b near here next month so I can do an early hike at Glendalough :)
Cool shot of this amazing place, looking at this is hard to imagine your so close to Dublin. The grey sky is very fitting and so typical here. Nice calm feeling too.
Cheers
Noel

Gidday Fred
What a gorgeous, commanding view of this enchanting place. Lonely Planet - and your excellent photo - do not lie: Glendalough is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. And it faces some stiff competition. Again there seems to be a beautiful natural frame here, with all the greenery. I love the mist in the far distance and the incredibly sharp, vivid blues of the lough and green of the trees. An impressive shot all round.
Cheers and a good week to you

Hi, Fred! Wow! So unusual landscape for Ireland in my mind, this view reminds me some places in Siberia, for example. Great presentation of the local nature. Best wishes, Serghei
