Photographer's Note
A view on Russborough House front, one of the most beautiful lord house in Ireland. It sits not far from the village of Blessington in the west of county Wicklow. It was built between 1741 and 1755 by the architect Richard Cassels for the 1st Earl of Milltown Joseph Leeson. It is reputed as one of the most beautiful example of palladian architecture, an architecture style leaded by the italian architect Andrea Palladio on Renaissance. The estate was bought in 1952 by a rich south african businessman, Sir Alfred Beit. He ceded it to the Republic of Ireland in 1978. Russborough House is reputed for its priceless collection of paintings ... and for its 210 metres long frontage, the longest in Ireland. You can pay for guided visits in the interior of the house. But you can just walk in the estate and admire this austere but majestic piece of architecture.
