Photographer's Note
Back in Ireland with a view of the ancient monastic site of Glendalough. If you go to Dublin, this site is definitely worth a visit and is only an hour south of the city in County Wicklow.
Nestled at the bottom of a valley and bordered by two lakes (Gleann Dá Locha "means" The Valley of two lakes ") is a small haven of peace and one understands immediately what attracted Saint Kevin who came to settle in the region to live as a hermit. He was soon joined by devotees and thus was born the village. It would prosper 'til the XIIth century. Beautiful manuscripts were written in Glendalough. Life was prosperous and the monastery soon became a high cultural place.
Today the charm of this city, dominated by its round tower which served as a bell tower and place of retreat in case of attack, is still operating.
If you like walking, if you are a hiker, even a beginner, then you can enjoy the superb climbing up to two lakes located there, the trails are well marked.

Hi Philippe,
What a fantastic shot. I've recently been to Glendalough and your photo is a nice reminder. Great POV and unusual composition. Truly this is Ireland if it´s not raining. Well done!

Hello Philippe,
il y a quelque chose de sauvage dans cette image qui est bien different de les images classiques de l'Irlande, avec les collines vertes et les petites maisons solitaires.
Elle me plait beaucoup.

hi Philippe,
may be it's my tired eyes, but I think the image could use some sharpening, it feels a little soft right now. but the composition is great, the shoreline in the foreground and slope of the mountain in the background nicely lead the eye towards the tower, and the yellow bushes add a good colour accent to the scene. nice :)

Kristine

The yellow gorse bushes give testament to the time of year when they brighten up the countryside. Excellent composition of Glendalough, looking across the river and with the building and tower placed on the top left third. Good work

Bonjour Philippe ,

Bonjour Philippe
These roundtowers seem to be pretty common in Ireland, is it? The composition is well done with the stream in the FG as perspective & lead-in, then the yellow flowers leading us to the monastery. Thought it was a bit soft, but Denis has already attended to it I see. Like this...good work!

Hello Philippe,
The nature landscape well captured in natural colours, and serving as the decor to lead the view to the pencil shaped tower. Well composed.
Regards,
Paul
