Land of St. Patrick, a photo from Wicklow, South

Photographer's Note

I rarely post photos for special occasions but this time I remembered in advance to pick a photo of a green Irish landscape for St. Patricks Day. St. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland. There are plenty of stories and legends which relate to this fact. For example one of the typical Irish symbols Shamrock was supposedly used by St. Patrick to explain Irish people the idea of Holy Trinity. As most of you probably know the celebration of St. Patrick Day in the form in which it exists now with the parades through cities was actually invented in the USA but it was well accommodated in Ireland.
This photo presents for the fourth time in my gallery the famous Guinness Lake (Lough Tay), it belongs to Guinness Family Estate. The white stretch of the sand was artificially brought there to enhance the resemblance of the dark waters to the pint of Guinness. Each of my photos is quite different. I have one from a similar POV as well but taken at different season with everything being more brownish than green. Green is one of the colors of Irish flag symbolising Catholic faith, the other color being Orange which refers to Protestants. The white color in between symbolizes the peace between these two religions. The peace between the people of various religions is so much easier especially in the south where people distanced themselves anyway pretty much from the church due to the numerous cases of Children Abuse by Priests with simultaneous cover up of the offenders by the higher clergy.

Happy St Patrick's day ! Good choice to celebrate the Great Day ! Your picture enhances the Irish landscape to the full, with the play of light and shade created by the usual threatening clouds of Ireland.
Lovely shades of greens and excellent details, of the ferns for example, or the sheep down in the field. So typically Irish !
Interesting story about the Guinness firm adding the sand at the top of the lake.

piekne zdjecie i akurat takie, jakie zawsze przemawia do mnie. Nie ma sie do czego przyczepic ;-) - wszystko jest na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Kompozycja jest idealnie wywazona, nie w niej nic zbednego. Kazdy element jest starannie zaplanowany poczawszy od paproci na pierwszym planie a skonczywszy na usianym chmurkami niebie. Dobrze wybrales POV i efekt jest swietny.

impossibile restare indifferenti davanti ad un simile spettacolo.

A most impressive view of an outstanding landscape,I really enjoy the fine details and shadow areas created by the passing clouds.

This is a stunning lake and capture of it, and thansk for teaching me about it. I am not familiar with this place,so its a pleasure to see it and read your great note. To think of Guinness so long ago being so smart in their marketing makes me note how they still are, certainly in Ireland they are a marketing machine.
Thanks for sharing the workshops too, it is fascinating to see this place through the seasons and colours, and all of the shots themselves are wonderful.

It's that why we have to wear green for St Patricks Day. The is absolutely beautiful with wide sweeping view of the whole are and the lake nestles right in the middle of the greenery. when we think about Ireland, we think in a green landscape as this one.
The view you offer us from a high POV is spectacular, the beauty of the lake in the middle of the hills with the green vegetation is obvious and you have caught it skillfully.

From this POV it is true this lake really looks like a reverse pint of Guinness ! I enjoyed the Wicklow Mountains when I've been there a few years ago and this Lough Tay was one of the best scenery you could see there. Good POV, nice colours and beautiful sky. Excellent sharpness as usual.

Bardzo ładna kompozycja, piękne kolory, szkoda że przy tych HDR, czy pseudoHDR nie można wyciągnąć ładnie nieba, bez tworzenia dodatkowej warstwy. Wspaniałe miejsce.

This is so lovely! What attracts me most is the play of the shadows from the clouds playing on the mild slopes...which lead our eyes to the almost circular lake in the centre. The contrast between the green and the reflected sky on the lake is very appealing!
