I'm going a little off the board here today, but lets take Gert's famous Time Machine and go back 3 years to Ireland. I'm sure Gert won't mind me borrowing it haha.
Here we have the charming city of Cobh, well worth spending a day or maximum 2 days, and just walk around and explore the homes, streets, churches, and the many wonderful views along the waterfront.
Why am I posting a shot from Ireland off of a sudden? well, because this photo has been sitting on my screen saver for 3 years - its time to post it!
Hope you like it.

Hello Craig,
This was an unexpected jump to Ireland. I don't mind lending you my time machine. I was actually wondering where it was. I thought I parked it in China in 1986. ;-)
There's a nice and bright foreground and several other colourful boats on the other side of the little port. The church with the very tall tower is a natural focal-point, but it gets some competition. This is one of the photos today that will probably be hard to beat for colours and brightness.
Have a nice Sunday.

bright summer daylight was a great asset to this composition, Craig.
Placed the tower as a pivot to the town scenery from across the colorful boat at the quays. Wonderful outcome.
Have a nice Sunday,
Ike

Hello Craig,
What a charming place, which I unfortunately missed when I was in Ireland. The houses and the large church look amazing, my attention keeps being drawn towards the tall spire and the rest of the church, even though the foreground is very appealing as well with those small and colourful boats. It was such a beautiful day with lovely sunlight.

Hello Craig
I'm sure Gert won't mind. Three years only...that's hardly even time travelling for him, I guess :)
Great picture from a location I'd never heard of (that's always a plus for me). I can see why it 'd work as screen saver, with most of the action packed tight near the centre of the screen, leaving lots of room for those thingies on your screen.
Thanks for sharing & all the best.
Benny

Craig, charming little town with its small harbour where are moored fishing boats. A cathedral and its tall spire can be seen in the bg along with the local architecture. Good pov, excellent light.

Hi Craig,
The distance between the harbour and the buildings is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the boats, of the buildings and of the cathedral. The light is giving godd rendering of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig
Nice idea to borrow Gert's time machine, but you still have to practice well because three years ago is of course nothing compared to 40 years ago.
I hope you have found an equally good photo for your screen saver because this one was worth looking at for so long.
Have a nice Sunday, groet Rob

Hello Craig,
You don't need an excuse to go to Ireland, it's a beautiful country with lots to offer in the way of scenery!
I love how you have used the red boats to anchor the f/g, they are bright and colourful and offer links with the snippets of red in the b/g.
There is a smooth transition across the harbour, where the greeny water offers some lovely reflections of the boats and the buildings, to the very well placed church and steeple.
All these fine compositional details are beautifully sharp. It's a good advert for Ireland, especially with that fine, blue sky!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig, the bright red in the foreground is an invitation to take a closer look, and there is so much to enjoy.
The depth of field is excellent.
That is a very elegant church in the background. There are even some pleasant reflections on the water.
Lovely.

Bonjour, cher Craig,

Hi Craig
That small harbour looks incredibly tidy with those appealing colours and subject of interest. The red boats are wonderful addition as strong focus point leading smoothly to the backdrop. The spire is hard to miss indeed and neatly aligned into a pleasant scene. Excellent shot

Hi Craig,
Lovely seaside town with colourful seafront houses and the church reaching high. That old fishing boat is a well chosen foreground item. No visible fishing gear suggests that it hasn't been used for a while.

Ciao Craig
fai molta attenzione alla macchina del tempo di Gert, quella viaggia per molti anni, trovarsi nel 1970 č un attimo....
Hai fatto comunque bene a mostrarcela, l'hai tenuta nascosta per troppo tempo, č troppo bella.
Saluti

Hello Craig,
After 3 years on your screen saver you probably thought that you had shown this photo already a long time ago on TE.
A colourful view of the harbour and the houses along the waterfront.
The cathedral rises above everything and will probably been visible from every spot in town.
Best regards, Paul
