Photographer's Note
Wicklow is widely known as the “Garden of Ireland” with hidden lakes and luscious waterfalls. One of the most beautiful locations and one of my personal favorites is Glendalough. Glendalough is a glacially sculpted green valley of great beauty and near this location sections of the film Braveheart were filmed.
The most famous of all the landmarks in the area, however, is the "Round Tower" which stands 110 feet above the ground. Here I included it in my compostion from the nearby stream rather than the graveyard or early Christian settlement area.

Beautiful shot! This has some really great atmosphere, with the sumptuous colour. I like the composition too, with the unusual square frame giving the shot a more spacious feel than normal. The combination of elements is good, with the stream leading to the field and trees, and then the tower in the background. Excellent!

A romantic landscape indeed Stephen. It makes me wonder why I haven't visited Ireland. Good work!

Fantastic shot Stephen!
Your shot is really powerful! Your composition in old Round Tower at Garden of Ireland is beautiful. I like contrast between Tower, grass, river, clouds and sky. I love the colors in your photo and note is good too.
I enjoy it a lot and thanks for sharing!

Hi Stephen,
A very nice shot ... as usual with you (;-))
Can you explain me a bit your post traitment as it appears on most of your shots a white halo around trees... It seems to be like a DRI traitment, no ?
Regards.

You have found a good PoV to photograph this much photographer scene, Stephen. I never even found this brook, it is adds a sense of isolation and naturalness to the view which is not eay to find. The wowr, placed well left of center and balanced by the mass of trees, works very well. It's a lovely recond of a place very special to me (and to all peopel called Kevin)

Nice summertime capture Stephen. The square framing works really well for this scene.
You must have had to crop a lot from the side (assuming you took it in lanscape) to get this framing.
The grad and polarizer have create superb saturation

Leave it to you to turn a graveyard into a landscape. But I think it succeeds wonderfully, putting the graveyard into the context of the Irish countryside and landscape. Having been here, it was an imporession I had driving down through the lightly populated countryside into the valley, and finding this graveyard and tower. It's really tighter landscape than most of your recent work, but I like the stream, rock and two trees. I like the angle of light, too. Thanks for another lesson, Steve.
Mike
P.S. Good idea adding a polarizer + grad grey option as a single filter. I'll have to select that for my own profile!

I always find when using a grad that it's best to under expose the image. If it's a 2 stop grad under expose by 1 stop, especially where the foreground is quite reflective.
But still it's a beatiful shot. Well done.
