Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: Italian food is famous all around the world. I have never met a person who did not love it. Having eight Napolitan aunties in Italy who cook like demons, I never starve. So I thought I would share some of my food experiences with you and bring you along on my tour of "Eating the Boot Out of Italy". Here we start with a beautiful salad of prosciutto di Parma (cured ham), buffalo Mozzarella from Salerno, tomatoes from Sorrento and pizza bread from Brandi Pizzeria, Naples. BUON APPETITO!

ITALIANO: La cucina italiana č famosa in tutto il mondo. Non ho mai incontrato una persona che non lo amano. Avendo otto zie napoletane in Italia che cucinano come demoni, non ho mai fame. Cosě ho pensato di condividere alcune delle mie esperienze di alimentari con voi e vi porti al mio giro di "Mangiare La Scarpetta fuori d'Italia ". Qui si comincia con una bella insalata di prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella di bufala da Salerno, pomodorini di Sorrento e pane da Brandi Pizzeria, Napoli. Buon Appetito!

Ma sei riuscita a mangiare tutta sta roba?
E' una vera delizia sia per come si presenta nel piatto, ma immagino anche per il proprio palato.

the plate looks impressive and very tasteful for everyone,but i wonder haw much the calories are! In Greece there are a lot of Italian restaurants but they can't reach the authentics of your country.Excellent presentation with the context of the plate to be so impressive.

Yum, yum, what a beautiful salad and I bet it tastes as good as it looks if not better. My mouth is watering! A fine capture with excellent colours and sharpness. Perhaps you could take up another profession as a food photographer:-)

I hope the heat is abating now, but I still think I prefer heat to cold and damp.

it looks great. Wow, ham from parma, and the best mozzarella, small tomatoes, I think some leaves of rucola - it must be fantastic. And you have eight Napolitan aunties?? It must be harmful for body mass index. it is a pity i only look at this photo.

I agree - Italian food really is the canine ovoid attachments. But, in the most part, it is all due to your poor, impecunious ancestors who made the very most of what ingredients they had at their disposal. As well as their resourcefulness. I mean, if you pick an olive off an olive tree, it's a horrible hard thing - who would ever think that you could squash them to reveal the most glorious olive oil? Or soak them in brine for months so that you could eat them?

And thank God our ancestors didn't have fridges or freezers because some of the greatest foods were invented purely as a means of preservation. Milk goes sour if you've not got a fridge, so why not make it into cheese? Bread doesn't last long either, so why not mix flour with eggs and dry it to make pasta? Or cure meat with salt and by smoking it so that it doesn't turn rotten?

A beautiful and appetising photograph with lovely true colours, perfect exposure and stunning sharpness. Food photography really is a speciality field in its own right but you have excelled here.
