Photographer's Note
ENGLISH: Back on the Food Tour of Italy, we have the famous Italian pizza. This man is a master pizza-maker of Pizza Di Matteo in Spaccanapoli, Naples. I would recommend this as being one of the best pizzerias in Naples in terms of location (right in the university district), price and quality. As you can see, even the pizza-maker loves his pizzas.
In terms of pizzas, there is an intense rivalry between Naples and Rome as to who made the first pizza and who now makes the best. I am biassed towards Naples of course, but agree with Wikipedia that it was at Pizza Brandi in Naples where the Pizza Margherita in Italy's tricolours was made for the Spanish/Neapolitan queen in 1889. The traditional ingredients of the Pizza Margherita are basil, San Marzano tomatoes (grown on the volcanic foothills of Mt Vesuvius) and the buffalo mozzarella from the Campi Flegrei and Salerno. Washed down with a cold beer (Nastro Azzurro of course) life does not get much better than this.

Hi Lisa,
What! You haven't been at Di Michele while in Naples!... Tssss!
I was watching "Eat, Pray, Love" with my girlfriend only 3 days ago and these pizza shots make you want to take the plane straight to Italy! - But the director of photography for this movie have missed such an opportunity to show better visual of these countries... He wouldn't survive on TrekEarth... :-p))
Clever point of view to create a strong perspective and a leading point towards the pizza oven. Nice to see the environment as well, with the tools of the trade. Might not be obvious to shoot in such a narrow corner, but the use of the wide angle makes it work.
Cheers!

Hello Lisa,
There is nothing quite like a freshly made pizza made by a man who knows his trade. I like the point of view looking into the pizza oven along the long handle. Judicious use of black and white to complement the mood.

Hi Lisa,
Mmmmm..more Italian food, really we can never have enough of that. I like the ones like this, where you show the people and the food, and in B&W it looks more timeless, like Italy itself.
Cheers

Btrava Lisa
Stasera pizza anch'io, ciao Silvio

Ciao Lisa,
Seems that the chef has tried a lot of Pizza. The point of view is perfect seeing the movement of the man all through the fire.
Have a nice day

Hi Lisa,
Another great addition in your food of Italy series and an excellent black and white, really suites these kind of shots I think. Great framing with an excellent point of view looking in on the oven and you've captured the man at just the right moment too.
This type of black and white and especially your previous post "Antipasto" makes me think of Robert Frank's Americans, but now and in Italy :) This is the kind of thing I would love to try myself. Guess this is where having a compact handy is really useful.
Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
James

Ciao cara Lisa,

Hi dear Lisa
For a "fan" of b&w photography like me, this capture is a real gift today.
So many nice and hidden details here ! But my favorite is the mosaics on the half dome od the pizza oven, with some cracks on it.
TFS and have a nice day
best regards

Ciao Lisa,
Ohh my favourite one! Nice B/W snapshot with the belly of the pizza-maker to hide a big part of the oven as advertising perfect his pizzas too.I'm joking of course, but seeing the shot i can say that Pizza is the original Italian plate so beloved in Greece.

Ciao Lisa,
I am sure that this pizzza must be deliciuos, and not good for Body Mass Index. The pizza nmaster obviously likes it too. I like this view very muchm, specially the beautiful oven. Pots are shining beautifully and it invites to eat. Maybe I make pizza for dinner? Perfect choice of b&w.

Bonjour Lisa,
Mes compliments.
Daniel.

Howdy AussieLisa,
(kindasoundslike MonaLisa ?)
Good monochromatic composition with focus on details rather than 'purty colors'. The fire-oven must make for wonderful flavours? - no microwaves in sight.
Now I am very jealous sitting here with a frozencookintheoven Red Baron pizza.
well done, cheers,
Yankray

Complimenti,
