Photographer's Note

The small town of Portofino welcomes you with colourful houses and neatly lined-up boats. It isn't more than just a few streets wrapped around a little harbour, but it does have a couple of lovely sights to offer: the gorgeous yellow S. Giorgio chapel up on the hill, the Divo Martino church, the lighthouse and Castello Brown. According to Pliny the Elder, the town was originally named Portus Delphini, referring to the many dolphins in the bay. I visited Portofino by boat, on a round trip from Rapallo on a september sunday, but I didn't see a single dolphin. Maybe they take sundays off?
