Photographer's Note

Rome, Piazza Navona. Detail of a famous sculpture of Gian Lorenzo Bernini(1651). The statue tells about the four most important rivers of the world in the vision of the 17th century: Ganges, Donau, Nile & Rio de la Plata. Nowadays Piazza Navona is a very lively square, where merchants try to earn some money. One of them sells balloons. I like the contrast between the right and the left part of the picture, in several ways. Hope you do too. Greetings,

hello Huub,
this is a delightfully light hearted image. I like too the contrast between the two halves of the picture. I suppose to be picky I could say that compositionally it would be perfect if the balloons took up only one third of the frame. But hey, I'm not complaining as its pretty near perfect as it is.

What a funny and unusual shot ! This should not be often that we can see the statue decorated in this way ;o)
Your framing is really well thought to accentuate the juxtaposition of the two styles, and the light and contrast are perfect to bring the strong colours out.
