Photographer's Note
Going up on the mt. Etna, in one road curve I saw tis house covered with lava from the 2002 eruption - this is considered a "fresh" lava: one year+/- "old".
Maurizio Inserra ( TE:mauro61) posted a very similar POV on the place / take a look.
This is a scanned print from 9/2003 trip to Sicilia.

ciao Ike,

Hello Ike,
The vertical format is well chosen to emphasise the height of the volcano and the layered effect offered by the landscape. I like how the roof of the house is sort of mimicked by the volcanic cone. A little on the small size but a very successful scan.

Hello Ike!
Interesting and original photo, with a feeling of adventure, great framing and composition, nice light management! But, why is it so small? anyway, great job!

dear Ike,
wow,
an amazing shot of the disaster there,
the nature's power looks awful and human activity is poor,,,
but the mountain is settled and beautiful even now,
thank you for your nice record shot,

Hi Ike,
The point of view from the bottom to the top is giving depth and perspective to the composition. It is also showing the details and colors of the country house covered partially by the lava. The luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Sorry for my delay, Ike.
I first thought of a landslide, as many occur in my province of Québec in springtime.
Sad fate indeed.
Strangely it's not completely destroyed; unless "fresh
lava" is meaning a burst of top soil prior to the inferno.
Shalom.

Hello
In 1999 I saw the bike ramp to the summit of Mount Etna, the lava-flooded house. This road winds beautifully among the black lava fields. A wonderful composition.

בוקר טוב. בשנת 1999 ראיתי את הרמפה האופניים אל פסגת הר אטנה, הציפו את בית הלבה. זו הדרך רוחות יפה בין שדות לבה שחורים. הרכב נפלא. בברכה.

Hi Ike !
This is a lovely POV of a way up Mount Etna ! I like the composition with the path going up in zigzag, the barren landscape, but also the vegetation which has started taking advantage of the fertile soil again, and especially the little refuge hut which looks very cute and inviting in this wild place.
It's a good picture for an old scan. However, there seems to be a mistake in the date. Twice, it's written 2003, but in the particulars of the photo, you wrote 24th August 2010.
Best regards.
Marie-Louise.

HI Ike
I remember this house. It was still there in 2010! This must have been taken not long after the last big eruption, so it's an interesting reportage photo. Excellent vertical frame and sharpness. I never get the sky the right colour in a scan, but you did well considering the difficulties. Thanks for sharing, I hope it's okay if I add this to my Volcanoes Theme.
Warm regards

Hello Ike,
this is a stunning scenery in a great, descriptive photo. I like very much the vertical layout, the sense of depth and the successive ridges. You left a good amount of space in the foreground and the buried house makes a captivating focal point. The textures are great and the natural colours are agreeable without distracting from the dramatic scene. The atmosphere is eerie but also makes you wish for a more thorough exploration. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hello Ike,
The lava flow has most certainly made this house uninhabitable. Good sharpness and the vertical format works well here. The road culvert in the bg adds a reference point. I saw similar lava fields in eastern Turkey and its hard to convey the moonscape look and feel into a single image. Tfs.

Dobar dan.
Interesantan pogled, dobar tekst ...
Dobar rad, lepo pokazana kuca pokrivena lavom od vulkana, dobar kontrast i perspektiva, lepe boje. Ostaju fotografija i secanja na opasne trenutke.
Lepo popodne i sve najbolje, srecno.
Paja.
Good day.
Interesting look, good text ...
Good work, beautifully shown house covered with lion by volcano, good contrast and perspective, nice colors. Remains photos and memories of dangerous moments.
Good afternoon and all the best, happy.

Hello Ike,
If ever a photograph portrayed the dangers of an erupting volcano, this is it!
The b/g looks quite innocent, but the details of the half submerged house, with rocks and boulders round about, tells a very different tale. The house looks bleached, too, as if the paintwork has been removed, probably with the heat.
It's a fine composition of an area with a sad outcome. I hope the occupants were able to escape before the house was overcome.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
