Crumbling Labyrinth III, a photo from Naples, Campania

Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: Continuing my series on the Isle of Procida, this is the other side of the island to my two previous postings. As you can see, the houses are stil very colourful and characteristic, although seem to be in better condition than those of my previous photos. This part of the island is on the way to the satellite island of Vivara which can be reached by a small isthmus.

As mentioned before, the Island of Procida lies in the Bay of Naples and is about 30 minutes from Naples Port. It can also be accessed from Pozzuoli and the Island of Ischia. The Procida itself is the product of four volcanoes, now lying dormant and submerged under the island.

ITALIANO: Continuo la mia serie di Procida con la terza foto. Si tratto l'altro lato del'isola. Come potete vedere, le casette sono ancora piena di colori, pero sono in condizione piu buona dagli altri delle mie foto precedente. Questa parte di Procida e vicino l'isolotta di Vivara.

Come ho detto prima, Procida e situata nella Baia di Napoli, 30 minuti da traghetto da Napoli, Pozzuoli o Ischia. L'isola e il produtto di quattro vulcani chi sono adesso sotto il mare e dormano.

Hi Lisa,
from the miniature I was betting Ireland: plenty of colorful townhouses on a rare sunny day. But after opening the full size it was apparently a completely different style and atmosphere. The attractive sky is a pleasant decoration.

yeah, this is exactly what attracts me to wanting to visit italy...this scenery is so beautiful.
the atmosphere is wicked! just sitting around this area, having a few drinks, soaking in the town.
thats what this photo is, its all about atmosphere and the calming nature it evokes.

Bonjour Lisa,
J'aime ces façades colorées sous le soleil généreux. Les quais sont certainement faits avec de la pierre volcanique sombre ce qui fait ressortir les façades et le beau ciel lumineux.

What an extraordinary perspective! The houses seems smaller and smaller, also in reality. It must be fantastic to live in such a place, with the view of the sea, sun, the boats waits just on the other site of the street. Interesting architecture with these entrances. And a piece of drying loundry is present too! Charming view.

This island's houses are in much better condition from what I saw in Cefalu ( see my Italia pic.'s), where the place look like desintegrated...
Colorful houses under partly shadowed scene.
(I think the use of CP made the left part in bright light, and shadow on right side).
Anyway, I like your documentary on Italia.

Stupenda prospettiva, cara Lisa, mi piace come questa fila di case inizia nella sinistra della foto e vada verso il centro diventando sempre piů piccola. L'effetto č una bellissima profonditŕ di tutta l'immagine. Composizione catturata molto bene, ricca di colori e tanti piacevoli dettagli. Brava!

Have you read Peter Robb's latest book? (Street Fight in Naples) - lots about parts of Naples history and art - a fascinating read. This island does rate a mention as well.
