Barene, a photo from Venice, Veneto

Photographer's Note

The "barene" (a term that derives from the Venetian "baro" = bushes) are outcroppings of land, flat and covered with vegetation particularly resistant and adapted to live in the brackish water.
The "barene" are crisscrossed by a dense and intricate system of canals large and small and of varying depths, among whom it is easy to get lost.
The lagoon of Venice occupies an area of about 550 km2, of which about 90 km2 consist of "barene" as those in the picture.

Le "barene" (termine veneziano che deriva da baro = cespuglio) sono affioramenti di terreno di forma piatta e ricoperti di una vegetazione particolarmente resistente e adattata a vivere nell'ambiente salmastro.
Le barene sono attraversate da un fitto e intricato sistema di canali grandi e piccoli e di varia profonditŕ, in mezzo ai quali č facile perdersi.
La laguna di Venezia occupa una superficie di circa 550 Km2, di questi circa 90 Km2 sono costituiti da "barene" come quelle nella foto.

Corrado this is a very nice lanscape photo. I like the colors of the BG sky and the sky reflections in the water, perfect. POV/DOF is also excellent. May be you should try to lighten a little bit the bottom right part (but my advise may be wrong). Very well done.

Ciao Corrado,c'e' sempre una luce magica nelle tue foto,le 3 del pomeriggio di una limpida e breve giornata di fine Dicembre fa' la differenza.Qualita' impeccabile di ogni dettaglio,colore e nitidezza,non conoscevo queste "barene",lo so che non c'entra molto ma mi ricorda i prati scozzesi intrisi d'acqua..ehehe...complimenti e buon weekend,Luciano

what a beautiful impression of this flat landscape! Your POV works very well and the colors are fascinating. This small piece of nature under a moody sky almost looks like graphic artwork. My compliments!

Hello Corrado - I find this flat landscape very attractive and you have taken this shot under good conditions. The light is lovely revealing lovely textural details in the FG and adding pretty contrasts in the canals. A lovely well managed shot. Warmest regards Rosemary
